Dear Community,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to share with you my decision not to run for the St. Petersburg City Council District 7 seat in the upcoming election. This decision did not come lightly, and I want to express my gratitude for the support and encouragement I have received from so many of you.
If you recall, My initial decision to run for City Council emerged just two weeks before the seat became vacant, prompting me to expeditiously apply for the appointment to complete the term. I am deeply thankful for the opportunity to serve the community in this capacity. This time has allowed me to gain invaluable insights into the intricacies of governance and running our city.
However, upon reflection and careful consideration, I have come to the realization that my passion for serving the community can be better channeled as a private citizen. I believe I can be a more effective champion and advocate for the issues that matter to me and our community from that position.
I want to assure you that my decision is not a reflection of a lack of commitment or dedication. On the contrary, it stems from a sincere belief that my skills and efforts can be more impactful outside the realm of elected office. I remain steadfast in my commitment to being an asset and a resource for whomever the voters choose as the District 7 representative.
To those who were hopeful that I would run, especially those who supported me during the appointment process with that understanding, I humbly beg your pardon. At the time of my appointment, I had every intention of running for the seat, and I deeply appreciate the confidence you placed in me. However, after being blessed with the opportunity to serve, I have come to the conclusion that stepping back from the race will allow me to give my undivided attention to completing the work I started during my term; while also working with you all to develop a Community led agenda that is in the best interest of the community.
I am grateful for the support and encouragement I have received throughout this process. Rest assured, I will continue to be actively involved in our community, advocating for the issues that matter most to all of us. I am excited about the future and the positive impact we can create together.
